What to expect the day of the procedure

You will arrive at the center's reception area where  our staff will greet you.  You will be required to sign the registration form, review our HIPAA policy and sign it and take care of your financial arrangement.

One of our staff nurses will escort you to the Pre-Op area.  Prior to the procedure you will be asked to sign a consent form granting the doctor permission to perform sedation and the endoscopy or procedure.  An IV will be started in your arm and a monitor hooked to your arm.   The doctor will then give you medication through a vein to make you relax and sleepy.  The procedure is usually well tolerated and rarely causes pain or discomfort.  Many patients fall sleep during the procedure.

Our staff will take great lengths to ensure that sedation is adequate and the discomfort during the procedure is minimal.  With newer medications that are used for sedation, most patients have no pain and very little recall of the procedure.  In some instances an Anesthesiologist or CRNA may me involved in your care.
